I’m simply amazed at the amount of sports supplements floating around the fitness world.
When I first started training back in 1986, you had a handful of supplements controlled by Joe Weider.
Your choices were very limited to only a few companies? Take a pick between Weider’s muscle builder or Beverly International’s protein powder. This was about it. You got sub par protein powder at very high end prices.
Today, you can pick and choose amongst a variety of protein sources between hundreds of different brands.
There are some many different varieties of supplements on the market that you can get bewildered and confused just standing in the aisle at your local GNC. I tell you, it’s crazy out there when you are trying to choose a supplement.
Why is it so crazy? Hype and marketing, that’s why. Just browse through your favourite muscle magazine and flip through it. What do you see on every second page? Two page ads with some pro bodybuilder recommending a certain product. Supplement marketing has taken a turn for excess and we as hard working weight trainers have to sort this mess out for ourselves.
If your anything like me, you’ve probably tried a lot of supplements with the hope that one of them might deliver 50% of what was claimed in the advertisements. Most times, I’ve been taken for a ride and simply flushed my hard earned money down the toilet. However, there are times when I am pleasantly surprised at the results of certain products.
I’m at a point in my training now that I stick by the supplements that I know for certain will do what is claimed. However, there are one or two supplements that I will try to see if they will work. Since I’m the owner of building muscle 101, I feel that I have a duty to tell all of the readers my findings, good or bad.
Which brings me to this months review – Endothil CR by Novex. Over the last 4 months, I’ve been hearing a lot about Endothil CR. I read some of the reviews and did a little research and decided that I would like to try this supplement to see if it will deliver what was claimed.
For those of you who don’t know what this supplement is, it’s basically green tomato extract, grape seed extract, and green tea extract. That’s it. Doesn’t sound like much but it’s a very interesting product.
Endothil-CR was originally formulated to treat victims of muscle atrophy by influencing proper development of muscles. As you can guess, it didn’t take long for a supplement company to start producing this product for fitness enthusiasts.
Here’s a study that’s currently posted on the Novex website. A 6-week long bodybuilding study conducted in 2003 on thirty-one fit males showed that the intake of Endothil-CR effectively increased the strength of the torso by 100% and that of the lower body part by about 250%. A massive change was also noted in the size of the biceps – the biceps of the men increased in circumference, growing four-times their original size.
Believable? Only one way to find out. So, I purchased a two month supply of Endothil CR. I started taking Endothil CR about 2 months ago. You have to remember that it takes at least 8 weeks for a supplement to take full effect, which is why I’m writing this review now.
I also try and keep all of my supplements the same when I’m trying a new supplement so my results aren’t skewed by another supplement. I didn’t change a thing when I started taking Endothil CR.
Alright, here are the results. After about my second week, I started to notice things were a little different on my core compound lifts, especially in my pushing movements such as the close grip bench press and dumbbell presses.
After about a month, I started to take note of the fact that the weight I was generally used to in my lifts were a lot lighter than they were before. Instead of doing 10 difficult reps with 225, I was doing 12 easy reps. It’s funny sometime because after a very successful set, you sit up and wonder, “How the hell did I do that?!”.
However, I also noticed that my elbow joints were getting a little sore. This has never happened before but I’m assuming it’s because of the increased weight of my lifts.
After two months, I was handling weights that I was very satisfied with. I was convinced that I wouldn’t be handling that kind of weight without the help of Endothil CR. Now, I’m not going to jump up and down and say that you absolutely must try this supplement because it might not work for you. All I’m saying is that it works for me and I’m personally using it. The best I can say is that I’m convinced that this supplement works for me and that I will continue to use it.
There is a down side…Firstly, the price you pay is a steep one. Endothil CR comes in tablet form and you get about 30 tablets for about $2 Canadian for each tab. That’s quite a price to pay for one tab. However, you get what you pay for and I’m happy to say, that it’s been well worth the price.
Secondly, it tastes horrible. But again, it’s something I’m willing to put up with considering the benefits.
I strongly suggest that if your going to try this product that you buy enough for two months because it’s going to take this amount of time for it to really kick in. You also get a workout schedule that comes with the product.
This is important to remember. This supplement is not a steroid. Endothil CR is nothing more than green tomato seed extract. That’s it. However, don’t expect to go to the grocery store and buy a bunch of tomatoes and expect the same results. It’s the manufacturing process that produces the actual product.
You can usually get the Endothil Cr at your local GNC. If you don’t have access to a GNC, try ordering online. Since I live in Canada, the best online supplement service is from SND Canada. Everytime I’ve ordered from these guys, the order goes out the very same day and I usually get the product in two days.
