Jeff Anderson's Optimum Anabolics Review

I'll be the first to admit that when it comes to strength training and building muscle, I'm a stickler for the basics. I'm an old school trainer and I stick to tried and tested methods for building strength and muscle. You see, I've been training for close to 20 years and I've just about tried every kind of muscle building program out there.

And, you know what? I've come to the conclusion that building strength and muscle doesn't have to be complicated. There's no need to think that muscle building is rocket science because it's not. If you keep it simple and train smart, you will build a lot of muscle.

However, muscle magazines and supplement manufacturer's have most aspiring trainers going around in circles. Outrages claims and promises made by muscle marketers can literally make your head spin.

I see it all the time in the magazines and on the internet - With adds like.”Add over 40 pounds of muscle in one month!”, “How to burn 30 pounds of fat and build 50 pounds of muscle using our program” and other outrageous claims.

Most times, I will ignore these claims and move on but there are other times when I will check out the sales page. If it's something that I think has some logic behind it, I will check the program out. In this case, I was surfing around the internet and I came across a sales page for Jeff Anderson's Optimum Anabolic's Program.

The headline read....

“Here's The First Easy Step To Add Over 3 Inches of Rock Hard , Shredded Muscle on Your Chest, Back, Arms, & Legs Using a NEVER BEFORE DISCOVERED, Step-By-Step Mass Building Technique and See Results In As Little As 7 Day”

Right away, I shook my head in disbelief. My first question was...”How on earth can you start to add muscle in as little as 7 days! - Using never before discovered methods !”. Being the old school trainer that I am, I decided that I owed it to myself and the readers of building muscle 101 to check this program out and do a full review of it, from top to bottom. So, with that in mind, I forked over my $68 and ordered the program.

For those of you who don’t know who Jeff Anderson is, he is the original “muscle nerd”. I’m not too sure where he got that name but I heard it was because of his meticulous attention to training detail. He keeps track of everything he does when it comes to building muscle. There is certainly nothing wrong with that.

Jeff has apparently made a pretty big splash in the body building world because of his “non traditional” approach to building muscle. I have to admit, when I read over his material, my mouth sort of hung open. I couldn’t believe what I read so I had to read it over one more time to make sure that I didn’t misread anything.

This program is not your standard bodybuilding routine and diet. This is something totally different...

“What’s In It?”

When I order Jeff Anderson’s Optimum Anabolic’s program, I instantly received the following:

• 120 page manual “Optimum Anabolics guide;

• 110 page workout workbook; Includes 24 week manual with exercises, reps, sets, and rest periods;

• 31 page body fat calculation manual - Accurately shows you how to find out your body fat percentage;

• Tracking Software. Shows you how your doing with the Optimum Anabolics program;

• 5 specialized programs for the shoulders, arms, legs, back, and chest;

• One month membership to the muscle nerd university. You get access to training video lessons, and online consultations.

I instantly downloaded everything with no problems. I admit, I was very excited when I opened up the Optimum Anabolics guide. I mean, I wanted to know what the big deal was with this program. Somewhere on Mr. Anderson’s sales page, I noticed one young gentlemen’s testimonial about gaining 24.9 lbs of muscle and burning Off 17.9 lbs of body fat in just 10 weeks. Unbelievable!

You know I’m going to check out the information on these pages to see if they stand up to their claims.

“The Optimum Anabolics Program”

So, what does this program have to offer to those individuals who are sick and tired of the same old stuff lying around the magazines and internet and looking to try something new and radical? This program will certainly open your eyes, like it did mine. Personally, when it comes to training and diet, I’m all steak and potatoes. That is, I don’t like a lot of change.

However, when I read the guide, I thought to myself...”Have I been missing out on something new? Have I become to compliant with my program that I’ve missed something that may actually work better?”. This is what this program does to you. It makes you really think hard about the program you’ve been following and if there is actually something better.

For example, over the years, I’ve tried most training principles with a certain degree of success. In his manual, Mr. Anderson lays out training principles which are not new, but when mixed with core compound movements and traditional beliefs, they form something that is totally new.

What really struck me was the manner in which Mr. Anderson wrote the program. This is not your usual “reps and sets” muscle talk. At no point did he try and use fancy medical terms or to try and impress you with body building talk. His conversational tone was as if he was sitting right beside you talking to you. At no point did I feel tired and bored.

After reading the 120 page manual, I actually felt a little entertained. I’ve never read a muscle building program that was so well written.

“Does The Optimum Anabolics Program Deliver?”

I’m not going to trick you into thinking that this program is for everyone because it’s not. This program is clearly aimed at those individuals looking to try something totally new.

The program is certainly exciting but it is very intense. Without a doubt, this program is aimed at those trainers out there who are dead serious about building muscle and are sick and tired of the same, tired training crap you read in the magazines.

The core of the Optimum Anabolics program is sectioned into 3 parts. The first part of the manual is more or less an introduction that warms you up to the meat of the program - Hyper Adaptive Cycling and the 8 anabolic factors. According to Mr. Anderson, Hyper Adaptive Cycling will be the single most important step you ever take toward packing on slabs of muscle.

The 8 anabolic factors (which includes hyper adaptive cycling) are in essence the core of what must be in place in order to create the “perfect anabolic environment”. According to Mr. Anderson, by manipulating these anabolic factors, you can create an environment of constant muscle growth, with no plateaus.

The second part of the program breaks the 8 anabolic factors into their separate components. The 8 anabolic factors are nothing new to weight trainers. However, what Mr. Anderson does, that so many other programs don’t is to really get to the core of these components and how to use each for maximum benefit.

As I mentioned, there are 8 anabolic factors that are mentioned in Mr. Anderson’s guide. Hyper Adaptive Cycling is one of the 8 anabolic factors and one in which will really get you thinking.

According to Mr. Anderson, Hyper Adaptation is a state in which your body over adapts to compensate to the demands placed on it. As an example, Mr. Anderson provides an extreme weight loss diet scenario.

When a person drastically cuts down on calories, there will initially be some weight loss. However, sooner or later, your body will think it is in starvation mode and will actually conserve fat. Instead of using fat as a source of fuel, your body will begin to use muscle as a source of energy.

According to Mr. Anderson, your body will “over adapt” and will actually store more fat instead of burning it because it thinks it’s in a survival situation (the bodies defence mechanism).

When this same person eats again, the body hyper adapts again, and stores even more fat because it is gearing up for the next starvation phase. This is one of the reasons why extreme dieting never works.

“Ok, But How Does This Build Muscle?”

This same idea can be applied to building muscle and is the main focus of the Hyper Adaptive Cycling program. By using the body’s “defence” mechanisms, you can actually trick your body into building more muscle growth.

As you probably know, an optimum training environment is one in which you are providing enough muscle stimulation to kick start muscle growth. That is, you are neither under training or overtraining.

However, there will come a time when the body will adapt to the stress and will stop growing. According to Mr. Anderson, by applying the “Hyper Adaptation” principles, you can actually trick your body into “muscle overdrive”.

The premise of the program is that your body has no idea of what is going to happen in the future.

The only thing your body knows for sure is what has happened in the past. With that information, your body makes a calculated guess, and “gears” up for what it thinks may happen in the future.

For example, let’s say you train legs hard and heavy on a certain day. You know with certainty that your legs are going to be quite sore for the next couple of days. It is during this phase that your body is going to adapt to the stress by building up your leg strength.

By the time your next leg day comes up, chances are, your legs are going to be a little stronger than the previous leg session.

This is one example of how your body adapts to stress and can be applied to all body parts.

What the Optimum Anabolics Program does is to manipulate your bodies own defence mechanisms to build more muscle. As I mentioned earlier, your body can only make a calculated guess what is going to be happening in the future. If you are training hard and heavy, your body is going to gradually adapt to the stress by getting stronger and bigger.

What if you were to manipulate this cycle? This is the meat of Mr. Anderson’s program and what really gets you thinking about the possibilities of building a lot more muscle.

“The Other Anabolic Factors”

The meat of the program is the Hyper Adaptive Cycling. However, the other 7 anabolic factors actually feed into the main program to provide a complete environment for fast muscle growth. I’m sure most of you have heard of these anabolic factors before but what you might not know is how to truly use them for the maximum muscle growth.

Let’s take two of the factors as examples.

"Body Part Training Frequency"

Over the years, as hard working weight trainer’s, we’ve been brainwashed by the muscle magazines as to what is the optimal body part training frequency. Iron gurus of old have preached that you have to train your body parts twice a week in order for them to grow.

I’m sure most of you remember the old Arnold training regiments where you trained 6 days a week with absolutely no rest. Well, this might work if your on a whack of steroids but for the natural trainer, it is simply way too much.

Mr. Anderson, proposes something that goes against all of the teaching of the muscle magazines and iron gurus of old.

I’m a big fan of this type of training frequency and it’s something I know with 100% certainty that it works. If only most trainers would follow this type of training frequency... However, a lot of folks out there will have a hard time believing this will work because of the “muscle wash” we’ve been fed into believing.

This alone is worth the $68 dollars for the program compared to the hundreds of dollars most people will spend on useless supplements.

“Exercise Selection And Form”

This is another anabolic factor that I’m sure most of you have an understanding of. Here is another example of a factor that has the potential to add slabs of beef to your frame.

Every time I walk into the gym, I see 90% of the weight trainers using the wrong exercises and the wrong form for what they are tying to accomplish.

I see young trainers doing 8 sets of cable concentration curls hoping to build their arms from 15 inches to 18 inches. Not going to happen.

Exercise selection is a very important aspect to your weight training regiment. Mr. Anderson presents a list of the absolute best exercises that you can do for building optimal amounts of muscle (You’ll be very surprised), and how to combine them with other exercises to produce mind boggling pumps.

Not only that, you will learn how to actually double the intensity of every rep!

Again, this alone is worth the 68$ you will spend on the program.

“Diet”

This is probably the most controversial issue of the Optimum Anabolics Program. The ideas presented in this part of the program will shake the very foundations of the body building diet mentality.

We all know how important a complete diet is to your muscle building program. However, we’ve been fed so much garbage when it comes to dieting that we don’t know what to believe.

What do we follow? Without question, we can all agree that the traditional body building diet mentality has been to consume one to 4 grams of protein per pound of body weight. Is this logic correct?

We’ve followed the advice of professional body builders and iron gurus for such a long time that we don’t even bother to question this logic.

After reading this part of the program, I shook my head in disbelief and read it over...3 times! This part of the program is the diet side of the “Hyper Adaptive Cycling Program”.

The concept is the same as the training part of the program but with food. The meat of the diet is to actually force your body to skyrocket it’s production of testosterone and growth hormone.

By manipulating the intake of certain nutrients, According to Mr. Anderson, you can “trick” your body into producing more testosterone and growth hormone.

And we all know that more testosterone and growth hormone in your system, means more muscle growth This is done by using a Hyper Adaptive Cycle during certain phases of your training cycle. An interesting approach to say the least.

This is an absolute must read and is well worth the 68$ you will pay for the program.

The last part of the Jeff Anderson’s Optimum Anabolics Program is to put it all together for a complete training program.

Here, you get a full training program that includes every aspect of training and dieting for optimal muscle growth. From the exercises you choose to the optimal amount of rest you need, it all gets put together in this part of the program.

“C’mon...Does This Program Work?”

I’m not going to lie to you and say that if you use this program it will add 20 pounds of pure muscle in the next month.

What I will say to you is that if you are looking to try something new and cutting edge, than this program may be for you. However, this program is no walk in the park and you shouldn’t expect it to be.

I have to admit, I was very sceptical when I purchased this program. It all sounded like a load of bull to me but after reading the program over a couple of times, it all makes sense.

I’ve never really strayed too far from my personal training routine but now that I think about it, can my routine be a little stale? Have I been using my program for such a long time that I’ve become blind to other training approaches and techniques?

You can bet I’ll be applying Mr. Anderson’s new approach to my training very shortly.

I'm going to recommend this program because i think it can add a whole different dimension to your training.
