Hello, I've been looking at Muscle-rx pre workout. I have been having a hard time finding reviews that are not by the same few people. Have you heard anything about this? I was contemplating BSN's NO Xplode but I have heard as much good as I have bad about it. I don't need anything hard core. I am trying to loose fat and build more muscle before the police academy in march. Also, do you have any tips for something to take while in the academy to maintain energy and not break down easily?
Hi, and thanks for the question
I'm assuming your talking about the Muscle RX from Bhelliom Enterprises Corporation who operates out of Boca Raton, Florida. They have a small stable of products that range from a Pleasure Pill and Sexual Enhancer to a Hang Over Remedy.
I don't have any personal experience with this product so I can't say whether or not it works. However, I will say this.
I went to the main website for Muscle RX and I couldn't find one page that listed it's ingredients.
All I got was a bunch of marketing mumbo jumbo about the usual energy boosting/fat burning properties of this proprietary formula. I don't know about you, but when a company doesn't bother listing the label ingredients on it's website, I have serious doubts.
This raises some serious red flags. Try going over to BSN's website and take a look at the NO Xplode page. You'll also see their marketing mumbo jumbo but you'll also see the actual label ingredients listed. One of the first things I recommend to people who are thinking about using a supplement is to stick to companies who are well known and respected. Companies who have an name established have too much to lose if there product doesn't work.
Personally, If I was looking for a pre workout supplement, I'd stay away from this Muscle RX. This product doesn't tell me nothing about what it is I'm actually taking. After doing a bit of research, I managed to find the label ingredients. Here's what's in it:
Beta Ecdysterone, Protodioscin Extract 20%, Tribulus Terrestris Extract, Yohimbe Extract Complex, Synephrine Extract, Pure Guggulsterones 99%, Horny Goat Weed, Cnidum Monnieri, Xanthoparmelia Scabrosa, Caffeine Anhydrous, Niacin, Bee Pollen, Ginseng Root, Royal Jelly.
None of this stuff has ever been proven to work with the exception of caffeine. I've personally tried most of the ingredients listed above and it was nothing but a big waste of money, Basically, you're taking ? (who knows how much) milligrams of caffeine prior to your workouts. I can go to the corner store and buy a red bull for a fraction of the price and get similar effects. The price for this product goes for $30 USD for 30 pills. That's a buck a pill! You get 191 milligrams of this stuff and you don't even know how much caffeine your getting! Besides, none of the ingredients listed (besides caffeine) above don't even work.
The suggested use is 1 pill before a workout. That's about a buck a pill for a 30 day supply. However, the company also suggests that for enhanced results take 3 pills a day. That works out to be a 10 day supply.
NO Xplode on the other hand at least has working ingredients. Potassium and sodium (electrolytes) which are a part of this formula, have been proven in actual studies to work at improving nerve response needed in order to properly contract muscles - Especially during high intense exercise. The formula also includes vitamins B6, B9, B12, and other trace elements.
BSN also includes maltodextrin and creatine into their formula. Again, these two ingredients have been proven to work in actual studies that involved high intense exercise. NO Xplode also uses caffeine but in conjunction with other working ingredients.
One tub of NO Xplode goes for about $40 USD. There are approximately 50 servings in each tub. That works out to be about 80 cents a serving for a 50 day supply.
There's no question about this one. If I had a choice between these two, I'd go with BSN's NO Xplode. It provides short and medium term energy and uses electrolytes and creatine as quick muscle energy.
My advice to you is give NO Xplode a try for 30 days. If it works for you, than stick with it. However, if you find it's too much, you may want to try something like Dymatize's Xpand. It's not as hard core but is one of the best pre workout drinks out there.
All the best,
