How To Make A Great Tasting Protein Packed Smoothie

Unlike a juice, which is made using a special juice press/citrus press or fancy juicer, a smoothie is a drink made by mixing whole ingredients into a pulp using a blender.

Now, there are basically two kinds of smoothies; Fruity and Creamy. A creamy smoothie has a richer, creamier texture and taste while a fruity smoothie is well...Fruitier.

Fruity smoothies are thick drinks made from fresh fruits blended together with a little added fruit juice.

Creamy smoothies are a lot creamier and richer since they contain some milk (soy) and/or yogurt. If you prefer a runnier smoothie, simply use more milk or soy.

Personally, I prefer using the creamier smoothie because most of my drinks have no choice but to be creamier. If there is one thing I can say about my smoothies is that they're not fancy. However, there are a hundred and one things you can do with a smoothie. You can add yogurt, ice, fruits, sparkling water, powders, honey, and a bunch of other stuff that can really add to the effectiveness and taste of your smoothie.

A smoothie has a different consistency than a juice. With a juice, your getting the juice only since the juice is pushed through an extractor or press. With a smoothie, your getting everything including the pulp because it's blended and not pressed. A smoothie can actually be a meal - Hence meal replacement drinks.

Now, since we are active weight trainers, we want all the nutrients we can get out of our drinks and meals. With a juice, you get the essence of the drink. However, with a smoothie, you get everything including the vitamins, minerals, and fibre. Since our bodies can use up juice in a matter of minutes, smoothies forces our bodies to slowly digest the nutrients over hours.

This is a full proof way of getting the most out of the vitamins, minerals, enzymes, cleansing ingredients, and other nutritional benefits from the juice. Smoothies contain a good deal of fibre which is a very important ingredient in keeping our bodies clean of toxins.

The smoothie recipes here are all pretty simple and use protein powder. I always use protein powder in my smoothies since I need additional protein to sustain hard and heavy workouts. However, you don't have to use any protein powders and feel free to customize and experiment with different ingredients.

The kind of equipment you will need is pretty simple. To start, you need a blender, preferably with ice crushing properties. Simply set the blender speed and your ready to start making some healthy, great tasting smoothies.
