At first, I wasn’t too sure what to think of the Diamondback 1100 EL. When I think of Diamondback, I think of bicycles. I know that they make a pretty good bike, but I wasn’t so sure that they would make a good elliptical trainer. After reviewing the Diamondback 1100 EL, I am happy to say that Diamondback now makes a great elliptical trainer. The Diamondback 1100EL has all the outstanding features that makes a great elliptical trainer. The 1100 EL is a professional grade elliptical trainer that basically has it all. It’s tough, reliable, comfortable, portable, and has more features than you know what to do with. All round, it’s a quality piece of exercise equipment.
Size
The Diamondback 1100 EL is a fairly compact elliptical trainer. It’s small enough to transport but solid enough not to be flimsy.
Quiet operation
I’m very impressed at the quiet operation of the Diamondback 1100 EL. The Diamondback 1100 EL has something most elliptical trainers don’t have in this price range (or more expensive ones for that matter), and that’s magnetic induction. Magnetic what? Basically, the Diamondback 1100 EL is it’s own source of power. You don’t need any external power such as a battery or an electrical outlet. Small magnets are placed on the fly wheel and with each elliptical stride, the fly wheel spins around an induction coil and creates an electrical current. This is what generates the electrical power. The power then flows to the control/display panel and from there, it sends it’s signals to the resistance system based on the program you choose. This in effect produces a noise free ride. No external power needed! You simply workout and you generate the necessary power. A truly innovative elliptical trainer.
Adjustable resistance/peddles
As stated above, the Diamondback 1100 EL uses an electromagnetic variable resistance system. Very reliable and smooth. There is no adjustable foot peddles. I was thinking this might be a downside to the Diamondback 1100 EL but it has the longest stride of any elliptical trainer in this price range. Anyone can use it.
Elliptical stride
The elliptical stride is one of the longest in the industry. Diamondback 1100 EL uses a patented crank drive located at the rear base. The rear crank drive allows the 1100 EL to have one of the longest elliptical strides in the industry. The more expansive an elliptical trainers stride, the more effective the exercise is. Display/control panel
The display/control panel is loaded with features on an easy to read LED screen. There is more than enough feedback features to gauge your fitness levels. The console is made of high impact plastic circuit board. The screen is made of a tough state of the art fibre glass. The screen is a LED 3 colour, 128 segment dot matrix that includes a heart rate graph, map profile and 2 feedback screens.
Programmes
The Diamondback 1100 EL comes with 9 pre-set programs offering 16 different resistance levels. You can set the Diamondback on manual mode with Quick Start option, random program, unlimited training profiles. You can also use the MET program. The MET program allows the user to pre determine how much energy is to be expended based on their metabolic rate. A very interesting program. METs program with 32 different Constant Power levels, and 3 pre-programmed hill profiles (Fatburner, Interval, Strength) with 16 intensity levels of resistance. That’s right, 16 intensity levels! That is a lot of resistance levels to choose from. With the METS Program, the Diamondback 1100 EL automatically increases and decreases resistance to one of 32 levels, according to your speed. This way you can keep burning the same amount of calories, even if you slow down.

The Diamondback 1100 EL comes with hand grips pulse sensors. There is a target heart rate graphical display on the console that constantly shows you your current percent of maximum Heart rate, and the intuitive console board presents a quick start utility to get you going. The console has one-touch program buttons that can instantly get you on track with your workout. The Diamondback 1100 EL comes with 2 heart rate programs: Heart Rate based Fitness test and Custom Target Heart Rate training program.
Dual action handle bars
The Diamondback 1100 EL comes with dual action handle bars that allows you to perform complete cross training workout.
Warranty and service
Price/cost effectiveness The options on the Diamondback are quite impressive. You won’t find these kinds of options on elliptical trainers that cost twice as much. As for price/cost effectiveness, the Diamondback 1100 ER is one heck of a deal. If you’re looking for an elliptical trainer under $2,000 that has it all, than you might want to take a look at the Diamondback 1100 EL.

The Diamondback 1100 EL comes with a magnetic induction system. This elliptical trainer is it’s own power source! No need for a battery or an electrical outlet. This option is hard to find on elliptical trainers under $2000. The Diamondback 1100 EL also comes with a metabolic trainer program. This program allows you to workout according to your needs. The MET program will allow you to pre determine how much energy you want to expend on a workout. By using this option, you can really optimize your workouts because it takes the guess work out or exercising. No more hit and miss with the Diamondback 1100 EL, you will always know how much energy you expend on any given workout. I like this option because the elliptical trainer fits with you and not the other way around. As with other elliptical trainers, you have to compromise in order to make a fit with the trainer, not so with the Diamondback 1100 EL. The colour LED screen is also a very nice option to have.
The Diamondback 1100 EL also comes with wheels at the base for easy transportation.
Concerns I really have no concerns with the Diamondback 1100 EL. It is an elliptical trainer that basically has it all. It has all the programs you’ll need for optimum fitness and it can by customized at any time. It’s solid, reliable and tough.
Rating Overall this is a solid elliptical trainer. An impressive piece of exercise equipment.
